J.A. Pagán, M.Div., Ph.D. 

Dr. Joshua A Pagán is the founding instructor of The Institute for Intellectual Formation & Skeptical Inquiry (Fort Wayne, IN). Prior to his current profession, he served our nation as a member of the U.S. Army Special Operations Forces (1995-2000). As an undergraduate, Josh studied philosophy at Purdue University; his graduate education was completed at Concordia Theological Seminary under the supervision of Adam. S. Francisco (M.Div., 2008; Ph.D., summa cum laude, 2011). During his doctoral program, he researched problems at the intersection of science and religion at Princeton Theological Seminary (2009-11). In addition to his work at the Institute, Josh is also the Executive Director of Aboite Lutheran Church, the editor of the Journal of the International Society of Christian Apologetics, and an adjunct professor. He is a member of various professional societies and the author of several publications, including Paul and the Resurrection: Testing the Apostolic Testimony (2020). He and his wife, Lori, currently reside in Fort Wayne, IN.

Josh's areas of specialization include analytic theology, philosophy of religion, religious epistemology, Christian apologetics, Islamic Studies, and integrative approaches to science and theology.


What is “intellectual formation”? In Rom. 12:2, the apostle Paul writes, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
